After three years of construction, Hanwood Park Reservoir officially opened to the public this weekend with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by hundreds of residents. The reservoir now serves as both a vital water resource and a stunning recreational space for the community. Visitors can enjoy over two miles of landscaped walking and cycling trails, a lakeside promenade, and dedicated wildlife observation points designed to protect the area's growing population of waterfowl. The grand opening featured guided nature walks, a family picnic on the north lawn, and live music from the Hanwood Park Community Band. Council leaders praised the project as a landmark investment in the neighbourhood's future, noting that the surrounding parkland will be maintained year-round and open from dawn to dusk.
